Those operating VOIP should be aware that the phone service is only active as long as there is a connection to the Internet.  If this connection fails, individuals will not have access to their phone service.  Thus, those relying on VOIP phone service for their homes and businesses should have an alternate method for phone use in the event of the failure of an Internet connection.
